Laid to rest amongst the trees

If your loved one enjoyed the peace and quiet of nature, then our Woodland Burial Service is the perfect option. We can supply a range of eco-friendly coffins manufactured from cardboard, banana leaf, wicker or bamboo.

The ‘plot’ can be marked simply by way of flowers or a plant, otherwise you could simply regard the whole area as their place of rest. Land designated as a natural burial ground is protected from development and has a long-term future as a space in which nature, plants and animals, are allowed to thrive.

How are natural burials different?

Woodland funerals are a lot more flexible than other traditional services in that you will not need to follow an agenda or source any readings, unless, of course, you want to.  Also, the body is returned to the ground in a more natural state, as embalming is not permitted for such burials.

Things to remember

  • Your loved one will not be embalmed. This is to ensure that the chemicals used in the embalming process do not disseminate into the ground and harm wildlife
  • Only coffins made from biodegradable materials can be used; cardboard, bamboo, pine, willow or banana leaf
  • No headstones are permitted, instead you could choose to mark your loved one’s final resting place with flowers, a plant or perhaps a Bios Urn turning the ashes into a memorial tree
  • Woodland burials are extremely flexible and although we are happy to provide a quote, we will need to understand your exact requirements before doing so
  • All woodland burial sites have their own rules and regulations, please ensure that you’re aware of these before choosing the site
